When was the last time you spent a Friday evening at the cemetery? If your answer was “never,” I’m right there with you. But there’s always a first time for everything, and tomorrow could be one of those times. If you and the kids are looking for something unique, interesting, and free to do to wind down the week, head to Congressional Cemetery at 6pm for an evening with Choctaw Storyteller Tim Tingle. The event includes a walking tour of some of the most prominent Native American graves at Congressional, including Choctaw Chief Push-ma-ta-ha and Cherokee statesman William Shorey Coodey. The tour ends at the cemetery chapel for music and stories with Tim. His recently published children’s books will be available for purchase and signing. Wine and cheese (and lemonade and cookies) will be served. Kids of all ages are welcome. For more information call 202.543.0539. Historic Congressional Cemetery is located at 1801 E Street SE.
