Kids in a Candy Store

Camp has never been such a treat—literally. The Sugar Cube, a popular confectionery in Old Town Alexandria, recently announced they are starting a Candy Camp. They will be offering activities and classes for kids that are all centered around—you guessed it—candy. And right about now you’re probably picturing your kids sitting in a tub of chocolate, stuffing their faces with all kinds of gooey, delectable sweets, completely unaware of the rest of the world.

Well, rest your fears; it’s not like that. While there will be some sampling, it will come as a reward after learning about candy, making candy, and celebrating candy (kids have it so hard these days). So, it’s not soccer or science camp, but how often does your kid bring you truffles after a day of practicing passing drills?

The camp actually begins tomorrow morning, July 27, but registration for that class is closed. Here is the rest of the camp schedule, followed by details on how to sign up your child:

Molded Chocolate Lollipops
When: Thursday, July 29th
Time: 9am-11am
Who: Kids ages 5-8 years.

Sweet Cinema: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Screening
When: Tuesday, August 3rd

Kids are invited to decorate their own Wonka top hats and will get to take home a goody bag of Wonka-inspired sweets. We ask that each child please bring a blanket, mat, or cushion for more comfortable viewing. Parents are welcome to accompany their children for free.
Cost: $10 per child.

Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

  1. Hmm it looks like your website ate my first comment (it was super
long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for rookie blog writers? I’d definitely appreciate it.
