Many of us DC moms who have breastfed our babies are well aware of the Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington. Whether we sought help getting our newborns to latch on, guidance on returning to work, or advice about transitioning our babes to solid food, the staff at the Center on K Street was great support during a huge — and often daunting — time.
This Friday night is a chance to reciprocate. Since 2009, the number of Washington, DC, families still breastfeeding at one year has increased 10%, surpassing Maryland, Virginia, and the national average. To keep that momentum going, the Breastfeeding Center is hosting OktoberBreast, a fundraiser to support their mission to offer more free classes and consultations for low-income families in 2016. The event will be a casual evening of food, beer, and fun, including music and a huge silent auction, and the public is invited to enjoy it all!
