Rock out with The Sippy Cups

It’s not always easy to find kids music that we parents can also rock out to. But The Sippy Cups, a band out of the Bay Area, might just bridge that musical gap. Their original lyrics are simple and silly enough for kids, but their sound is groovy and interesting for grown-ups. In fact, I have it playing right now, and Sasha and I are both dancing in our seats. They also do covers of some rock classics like “Dear Prudence,” and “Bennie and the Jets.” Even more, their shows aren’t just about their music. Colorful puppets, juggling tricks, and aerial feats wow audiences just as much as their songs.

If all this sounds good, you can catch their show at National Geographic’s Grosvenor Auditorium on May 1. Tickets are $16, but Goldstar currently has an offer for seats at $9 . Whether or not you can make the show, The Sippy Cups are worth a listen—you can sample a few songs and get more info about the band on their website.
