The Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods series at Wolf Trap is about to start its last week of performances for the summer. It’s hard to believe the series is ending, as it seems like yesterday that I first posted about it (time really does fly when you’re having fun). If you and the kids haven’t been yet, but have time to go this week, I highly recommend it (we saw Dino-Rock during the first week of the series, and the kids loved it). The line-up of acts changes weekly, but the setting–the outdoor amphitheater with wooden-bench audience seating under a canopy of tall trees–remains the same. And that rustic al fresco atmosphere lends an air of enchantment to the experience.
On the schedule this week are the Dance Institute of Washington and local music fave, Rocknoceros. The DIW are performing the story of a “dance off” between the Hip Hops and Techni-Ques that brings rivals together through their love of dance. Following them, Coach Cotton, Williebob, and Boogie Bennie are bringing their zany charm to the forest stage.
Performances run Tuesday through Friday at 10am and 11:15am, and you can stay for one or both shows. Tickets are $8 for a single show or $10 for both. Purchase tickets here by clicking on the date you want to go. Make the most of your time at Wolf Trap with a picnic lunch between shows in a nearby meadow.
