Basketball season is about to start, and the Wizards are gearing up with Training Camp beginning tomorrow night (or Wednesday morning, depending on how you look at it). The team is taking a cue from college basketball’s traditional late night start to the season and hosting Wizards Midnight Tip-Off on September 28 at the Patriot Center to kick off the 2010-11 season.
A midnight event (on a weeknight, to boot) isn’t exactly ideal for kids, so the Wizards are ending Training Camp with something the whole family can attend. Fan Fest will take place on Sunday, October 3. Not only is the timing more appropriate for little ones, but there will be lots of activities geared toward young basketball fans as well.
Starting at 11am, youth camps and clinics, plus an interactive kids zone will be held outside the Patriot Center. There will be a skills & drills area, face painting, balloon & caricature artists, and stilt walkers. Indoors, there will be DJ-spun music, meet & greets with Washington Bullets legends, a dunk show, giveaways, and more. A team scrimmage will begin at 12:30pm; fans will have a first look at the Wizards in action.
Both events are free and open to the public. More information and a link for directions are available here.
